Boulder Community Health Pathways Program at Light Root Farm

In partnership with Boulder Community Health’s Pathways Program, Light Root Farm hosts a mindfulness-based nature therapy experience for adults navigating mental health challenges. Through a combination of group therapy, mindfulness practice, and meaningful farm work, participants are invited into a supportive environment for healing, grounding, and personal growth.

At the farm, participants engage with the land through:

  • Gardening and soil care

  • Compost building

  • Animal care and stewardship

  • Seasonal farm tasks that offer purpose and connection

These activities provide more than skill-building — they foster connection, resilience, and a sense of belonging. The farm becomes a place to slow down, breathe, and rediscover the grounding rhythm of nature.

Light Root Farm has collaborated with the Pathways Program for four years.
In 2024 alone, we welcomed 130 adults for 12 therapeutic farm sessions, and participants regularly request more time on the farm — a reflection of the safety, connection, and healing they experience here.

This partnership continues to affirm what we believe deeply:
meaningful work, community support, and time on the land can be profoundly transformative.
